Error when extending the web service timeout.

I am using the NWAdmin command line tool to extend the web service timeout and am encountering an issue whereby a command to set the timeout to below the default works:

 NWAdmin.exe –o SetCallWebServiceTimeout –milliseconds 90000

However, a call to increase it or set it to anything over 90000 results in an error: "milliseconds must be a positive integer.".

 NWAdmin.exe –o SetCallWebServiceTimeout –milliseconds 95000

NWAdmin.exe –o SetCallWebServiceTimeout –milliseconds 100000

NWAdmin.exe –o SetCallWebServiceTimeout –milliseconds 150000

all result in "miliseconds must be a positive integer".

Am I doing something wrong, am I encountering a limitation or is this a bug?

The problem I am trying to solve is that the first web service call of the day results in a timeout. I am using web services to kick off a workflow from a workflow in a single zone host named site deployment with Forms Based Authentication enabled.  So, the first workflow of the day fails.

Thank you for your help with this!

View Workflow History List runs into timeout

Hello all,

since a couple of days I'm facing the problem that I'm unable to view the workflow history list.

When I click "View history List" it begins to load but that's all. After some minutes I've get an error message.

Logfile:

Error establishing database connection. SQL Error: -2.: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Timeout expired.  The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding.

I tried the following steps to resolve the problem without success:

- Restart SharePoint Timer
- Purge Workflow History List
- Restarting every farm server

Has anybody any idea what I could try as next steps?

Many Thanks!

Sven

All,

I am aware that NW0365 has several actions that are missing from it but I am wondering, is it possible to create a re-usable workflow for a Site Content Type using Nintex Workflow O365?  Thank you!

Long Duration Workflow

We have a workflow that sends an email notification that has a built in 2 day delay where it rechecks a status field of a record in a library, and sends a second email if the status hasn't changed.  We're being scolded by our IT department because this long duration workflow is stressing the server.  Can anyone suggest a different approach that would accomplish the same objective that would not have a workflow running for a long duration?  That is, to send a follow up email 2 days later if the status field of a library record has not changed.

Thanks

Convert ANSI to UTF8

Hello,

I am using a  webrequest action in order to get RSS feed from some sites.

Some of those feeds are not encoded  using UTF-8.

So when I want to parse the values i don't have the correct encoding when importing items into sharepoint.

What is the best way to implement it in Nintex Worklow 2013 ?

Are there any 'best practice' guides for Nintex Workflow database configuration?

This is a question we received from a customer recently and it seems like information that should be shared, so here is the reponse.

There are no ‘best practice’ guides as such.  Currently the only documentation is a) The installation guide and b) the SDK. The SDK has a section on the databases and describes what is stored in each table.

Multiple content databases can be added to distribute the load. If there are multiple content databases, the product will automatically assign different content databases to different SharePoint site collections.

In the near future we intend to add purging options for database data however we cannot offer an ETA yet.

Workflows Not Starting Automatically

Have a strange situation.

We have setup workflows to start on item creation, for documents in a document library.  However it seems that workflows are not starting after documents are uploaded to the document library.  there is no error, workflows just dont' start.  I looked in the forum and saw comments about not using the system account, and confirmed that the workflows are not published with the system account nor are documents being uploaded by the system account.

The strange thing is if I start 1 workflow manually, then the next time I upload a document, a workflow will trigger.  So it appears that if there is a period of dormancy with respect to workflow, Nintex/SP WF engine needs a jumpstart to get going.

 Appreciate any feedback or suggestions.

Schedule a workflow on all items in a list

I've managed to make a workflow that sends an email to someone based on the value of one of the fields on the list.

I've got a process which clears out this list and re-populates it with the correct info every so often.

What I'm trying to figure out is a good way to have something that kicks off the email workflow I've made, on every item on the list, every two weeks.  Would there be an easy way to schedule the workflow to be kicked off on everything on the list, or would that need a number of additional workflows made?

Glancing through other posts people make refence to scheduing a workflow as if it's a simple task, but I haven't seen anywhere where it asks on what schedule to run the workflow.

Thanks.

Starting workflows sequentially

Hello,

I created a Nintex state machine workflow that starts when an item is created.  I also created a web part application that uploads about 400 InfoPath forms at once.  Could this be burden on the server?  Is there a timer or something that can be done so these workflow can be started at least few minutes apart from each other?

Thank you,

I noted that in some of the Nintex form demos a desktop phone emulator is used to simulate forms in that environment.

Does anyone have a favorite (preferably free) emulator that they like to use?

Nintex 2013 Convert Document (.docx) to PDF in SharePoint 2013

Hi ,

I was hoping I could get some help with Nintex workflow “Convert Document”  to pdf as I kept getting the following errors when running the workflow. I am using SharePoint 2013 and Nintex 2013.

Error found in Workflow History:

Conversion Error: Conversion Job did not complete. 1 jobs failed. 0 jobs cancelled.

Here is the error in the SharePoint Log:

Error code: 65543; Message: The file could not be converted; it may be corrupt or otherwise invalid (the conversion process failed). Please try opening the file in Microsoft Word, resaving it, and then resubmitting the file for conversion. If this does not resolve the issue, contact your system administrator.     (Build:3050)

Please see file attached for the screenshot of the Workflow step that does the conversion:

Output URL in the screenshot:   http://recordpoint.dev.local:20488/sites/demo/Finance/output.pdf

I found the following article related to this issue on Nintex Connect Forum but this seems to only apply to SharePoint 2010.

http://connect.nintex.com/forums/thread/21929.aspx

I have also tried troubleshooting Word Automation Services following the article below:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff512795(v=office.14).aspx

but all my configurations seem to be fine.

Any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Flexi Task 'All must agree on outcome' Clarification

$

After putzing around for quite some time with the flexi action and it's outcome behavior, I have come to a conclusion that I need to verify, just so I know I'm not going crazy here....  I guess the root of my inquiry here revolves around the purpose of the 'All must agree on outcome' functionality.

Scenario:

You assign a flexi task with two outcomes (Approve and Reject)   you then set that flex task to require that all participants agree on a specific outcome (let's go with Approve.)  So the task is then created with three people and one of them goes in and sets the item to Reject.   This is not the required outcome so the Flexi Task dies and the additional people are not required to provide any additional input.

Issue:

When this happens, the workflow doesn't go down the 'reject' leg of the flexi task, it merely restarts the state in which the task exists thus recreating the task.  Adding the 'other' branch from the advanced options allows you to perform an action on the failed task (like sending an email or switching states) but it would seem to me that the reject branch (or any branch other than the desired outcome) are utterly inaccessible.   So my question is, what's the point in having any outcomes other than the desired one?  When choosing the 'all must agree on outcome' option, you're really left with a binary decision, and the negative side of that binary decision (the 'other' branch)   isn't an option...   Even if everyone agreed that the decision should be to choose the 'Reject' option, because the first person rejected it, the other two don't even get a chance to throw their two cents in becase the task has already died.  So there is no point in adding more than two outcomes to this task(and one of those by default should be 'other) because your actionable decisions are either the desired outcome or everything else.  There is also no point in showing those additional outcomes on the workflow because they are completely inaccessible.(what one would see with the scenario above is a reject leg, an approve leg, and an other leg)

I feel like I'm missing something here and would like to get to the bottom of the intended use of this option within the flexi task so that I can properly use it going forward.

I need to remove the Time Zone Option in my live form

I created a form for a contest page our company is running. The form is running in an Iframe so that the consumer does not have to leave the site to fill out the form. The issue I am having is that the live version of the form has a orangish settings bar in which the time zone can be changed. I want that removed. For us the time zone is of no importance. Does anyone know of how to remove this from my form. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.!
