Send Approval action to a group of people

Hi. I want to use a SharePoint site group as the source for an Approval action, but when I use the SharePoint site group (which has at least one user) the workflow errors logging that the value is not set. Can someone advise if using a SharePoint site group is a feasible option or should I maybe create an Approvers site list?

Any worked examples that I can model my WF upon would be great.

Assign Individual tasks to a sharepoint group...

Does anyone know what I would have to do in order to assign individual tasks to a sharepoint group?

So, instead of select each individual member, I would be able to select the group and then it would assign individual tasks instead of one group task.

If you have any suggestions, please upload a screenshot of what to do...

Thanks

Workflow Migration from 2007 to 2010

I had a post or two regarding going from 2007 to 2010. Upgrading the entire Nintex 2007 database is not a viable option.

Can I instead migrate published workflows as site collections & sites are moved from 2007 to 2010?

Thanks.

Task ID expression on Request Approval Action

hello,

We have a Request Approval Action assigned to a single user (so a single task is created). Is there a way of obtaining the Task ID in order to embed it as expression into the Task notification? I see there is Task Name, Task Description, but no way to get the Task ID.

I understand that there is the query Task List option, however I need the Task ID within the Task notification.

thanks,

Rich text become HTML when converting from list item to Word document

Hi,

I'm using Nintex Workflow 2010 and Nintex Form 2010.

I have a form with a field called "comments". I have set this column to allow Enhanced Rich Text which means people can enter rich text such as styled text, tables, pictures and hyperlinks.

In my workflow, one of the steps is to convert a list item to a Word document. I've got a Word template that contains Content Controls. These content controls are mapped to each of the columns in the list. So yes, one of the Content Control is mapped to the "comments" column. This Content Control is a Rich Text Content Control.

My problem is that once my list item is converted to the Word document, my comment content control doesn't disply the content as rich text, instead, it displays the content with HTML mockup. Has anyone seen the same problem before? Any solutions to it??

Below are some screenshots of my problem:

Kind of a crosspost of this thread: http://connect.nintex.com/forums/thread/29646.aspx

It doesn't appear to happen when the workflow itself is simple and small, but once it reaches a certain point, it begins to throw these errors. I can enter a user or email address into the field, but it will not allow me to use any lookup values.

I am running Nintex Workflow 2010 Version 2.3.7.0

Screenshots below:

The box outlined in red is where I'm attempting to add a lookup to a field called 'LegalRequestedTo' (a people picker field) on the list item the workflow will be running on.

I'm able to get the dialog that allows me to select the lookup...

But as soon as I attempt to save that selection by clicking 'OK,' I get an error.

What is happening and can anyone help?

Wait for Item Update Errors Out

$

I have 2 approval workflows on a list - a main workflow that is started manually and an update workflow that is started on item update. This is to accomplish a parallel approval process i.e., the site owner/administrator will initially enter the list of approvers and start the main workflow. An approval task should be created for all of them. While that is in progress, the owner can come in and add more approvers or remove existing approvers at which time the update workflow would run. If all the main workflow approvals are complete before the update workflow, it will sit around and wait for the update workflow to complete. I am achieving this synchronization by having both the workflows update a common list field (called 'Number Approved') and having the main workflow 'Wait for Item Update' of this field.

Now, here is the problem. The main workflow waits for item update for a few minutes and then suddenly (while the update workflow is still waiting for approvals) comes out of it and the workflow errors out. I tried inserting a delay (pause) but still the same effect. I do not see any specific error information related to this in ULS logs. However, I do see a couple of Workflow Infrastructure errors and the dreaded 'Unable to locate the xml definition for CType with SPContentTypeId xxxx' message right before them. Here is an excerpt from the log exactly at the time of the workflow error:

I understand this may not be a Nintex error and though it causes a Nintex action and workflow to error, the underlying cause could be something else. But any help or insight would be appreciated.

Range of situations where Nintex Forms is applicable

Hi,

I'm trying to find a way to customise the new form and edit forms in a SharePoint 2013 document library. I've done it in lists before but libraries seem to be a bit more tricky. (If it turns out that InfoPath will work i'd be delighted to know).

Can Nintex Forms help in this area? Are there any links or guides floating about that someone could point me towards, i did a bit of googling but didn't find any obvious results.

Thanks,

Alex

Webservice StartWorkflowOnListItem, Syntax for "Association Data"

Hello,

I tried to start a nintex workflow (with start data variables) from an other infopath list based workflow with webservice StartWorkflowOnListItem (sharepoint 2007)

The workflow started but erroed:

Failed to process response. Error returned from server: Server was unable to read request. ---> There is an error in XML document (1, 288). ---> Input string was not in a correct format.

There was no error or hint mentioned while editing the webservice call

Editor mode ist SOAP-Builder.

Value as copied:

<data> <ID_Abschreibung>ID</ID_Abschreibung> <Menge_Abschreibung>Warenmenge</Menge_Abschreibung> <Wert_Abschreibung>Zollwert Der Sendung</Wert_Abschreibung> </data>

if changed to SOAP editor, the part in associateData looks destroyed:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<soap:Envelope xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
    <soap:Body>
        <StartWorkflowOnListItem xmlns="http://nintex.com">
            <itemId>{ItemProperty:ID_x0020_Project}</itemId>
            <listName>4c096e7d-7224-4dbe-ad4c-33125601703d</listName>
            <workflowName>Projekt-Abschreibung</workflowName>
            <associationData><data> <ID_Abschreibung>{ItemProperty:ID}</ID_Abschreibung> <Menge_Abschreibung>{ItemProperty:Warenmenge}</Menge_Abschreibung> <Wert_Abschreibung>{ItemProperty:Zollwert_x0020_Der_x0020_Sendung}</Wert_Abschreibung> </data></associationData>
        </StartWorkflowOnListItem>
    </soap:Body>
</soap:Envelope>

In this post (http://connect.nintex.com/forums/thread/7373.aspx) we can see:

<associationData><Data><nazev>QWERTY</nazev></Data></associationData>

that confuses me ...

Is there a description to built a valid associationData String or Syntax-description? How to use it?

Configure Conditional Startup options to ((A is true and B is true) or (C is true and D is true))

I want to create a conditional startup on a workflow. The condition is if ((A is true and B is true) or (C is true and D is true)) where the brack must be evaluated first.

The interface looks like I can set (A is true and B is true or C is true and D is true) which is not the same as what I wanted.

Does anyone know if it is possible to set the condition to ((A is true and B is true) or (C is true and D is true))?

thanks

Nintex Workflow 2013 Conditional Start comparing Multi-Line text

I would like to start a workflow conditionally by comparing the previous value to the current value of a multi-line text field. Can this be done?

Everything seems to be set up as it would for any other conditional start. I tried "Not Equals", "Does not contain", "Not Equals (ignoring case)", "Does not contain (ignoring case)" and went so far as using "Does not start with" (does not start with astrik) and none of them worked.

You know that Nintex Workflow enables organizations to build complex workflow processes quickly and easily using a web browser interface. However, advanced users may have sophisticated requirements that are not readily supported yet by Nintex Workflow. For such users who want to create functionalities as quickly as never before, Data One has developed a one-of-a-kind tool: Data One PowerActivity.

Microsoft Windows PowerShell command line shell and scripting language helps IT professionals achieve greater control and productivity. It is easy to adopt, learn, and use, because it works with your existing IT infrastructure and existing script investments, and because it runs on Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows Server 2003.

Data One PowerActivity enables the seamless integration of arbitrary PowerShell scripts with Nintex Workflows (no tedious deployment process as with regular SharePoint development!) and offers additional functionalities to integrate PowerShell and SharePoint developments. It also features a browser-based script editor with syntax highlighting for convenient script composing.

Some sample scenarios that have successfully been implemented using PowerActivity:

  • Create Web site upon item creation, set individual authorizations for Web site
  • Create Web Service proxy on-the-fly, call Web Service
  • import and parse XML file from file system
  • ... anything Windows PowerShell can do

Benefit from Nintex Workflow to automate your business processes and administrative tasks. Reach your goals even faster now using Data One PowerActivity, the ideal tool for rapid development, prototypes, proof-of-concept studies and agile SharePoint development.

Contact us today for an individual demonstration or check out more cool stuff on http://www.ilovesharepoint.com/. Or get your live demo at BASTA! Spring 2009, where Data One as exclusive sponsor for the SharePoint Special Days will feature Nintex Workflow 2007 and Nintex Reporting 2008.
