Manager lookup for simple approval WF

What is the easiest way to get an approval from the direct manager (via AD-lookup)? Adding a static name doesn't help at all.
Unfortunately {Common:Manager} is not accepted on Nintex WF for O365 yet.

Debugging options for Nintex Workflow for Office 365

What are the debugging options for troubleshooting NW for O365 workflows? I was hoping to see some verbose logging information similar to NW2010/2013 but realized that I may be expecting too much. Are there other methods to getting detailed information about a workflow step other than creating "Log to workflow history" steps?

 (I am having an issue with the "Query List" action, the status in workflow history only says "A Parameter didn't meet the validation requirements." But it doesn't tell me what parameter.)

Query List action is Querying Workflow history, not intended list... getting error.

I am trying to use the "Query Office 365 List" action to query a calendar list on my site. I have stepped through the process and all the settings are correct. I have named my calendar "Sample Private Calendar" and have this specified in the action configuration panel.

When I run the workflow, it take about 10 minutes before I get the following information in the Status "Information" icon:

Retrying last request. Next attempt scheduled after 1/7/2014 11:14 AM. Details of last request: HTTP InternalServerError to https://<myonlinetenant>/sites/d-scbaptist/_vti_bin/client.svc/web/lists(guid'961c2b3b-0eea-4e85-96ca-f2a8632cd680')/Items Correlation Id: b35de181-5bfc-6383-a99a-77458c10b6b7 Instance Id: 8b37448a-4410-403c-8e1f-722cc582e023
Invalid text value.
A text field contains invalid data. Please check the value and try again.

When I paste the URL into a browser window, the XML that is returned is that of the Workflow History list (GUID:'961c2b3b-0eea-4e85-96ca-f2a8632cd680') not my Calendar list... Guid for my calendar is 70892567-3351-4B99-B518-A9C4B2ABD1D0...

Have you seen this issue?
Have you used the Query List action successfully?

-----Update----

This does not appear to be happening with only the Query List action, I added a web service call and I have the same error message in the info pane. I am wondering now if it isn't some side step, or something with the "Log to Workflow History" action that is causing this...

can I copy a workflow from one site to another?

Call an HTTP Web Service question.

I have tried using the Call HTTP Web Service action to get list items using the O365 REST endpoints. When I specify the response should be ATOM+XML I get an error saying that the Request was sent back as ATOM+XML but the action expected JSON.

 Is there plans to support ATOM+XML as a response type for this action, or perhaps another action?

Migrating Workflow through OTAP environment

All,

 Could somebody tell me if it is possible to easily move the workflows built in Workflow Office 365 or Workflow 2010/2013 through the OTAP?

 Thanks!

Flexi Task "In Limbo'

$

I'm using a Flexi-Task to Approve/Reject an item. The reason for using Flexi-Task rather than straight Approval is that I want to have the Approvers write comments if the reject the item.

I have multiple approvers and the task is set to "All Must Agree". If one person Approves and the other Rejects, the workflow completes but no further steps are run. This leaves the item in "limbo", neither approved or rejected. And there doesn't seem to be a way to restart things.

At least with a straight Approval, if one person rejects the item it fires the reject path of the workflow.

Is there a way around this?  Some sort of default selection would be handy.

How to count unique items within a list item

Hello,

I have created 2 lists and workflows in able for our users to book courses.  The first form/workflow is for the Manager to be able to set up courses that are available to our end users.  The second form is for the end users to choose from the courses created in the first list and book course that are avialble.  I am trying to add some type of a count that calculates once each course hits 15 bookings.  I can get a count to work but it calculates all of the items in the list.  Becuase there are many courses available I want it to be able to do the calculation for each unique item in the list column.  Any ideas?

Thank you,

Kelsy

Patch Dependencies between Nintex for Project Server 2010 and SharePoint 2010

Hi,

Are the patches for the Project Server product and SharePoint product independent?  In other words, When patches for Nintex for SharePoint 2010 are released, we do not need to wait for/expect a patch for Nintex for Project Server 2010 in order to install the SharePoint patch.  Is that correct?

Thanks,

Tim

Flexi Task Item does not exist

Hi,

I created a Flexi Task with 4 outcomes. But whenever a user tries to open the task (thru email or UI), we get the error bellow.

System.ArgumentException: Het item bestaat niet. Mogelijk is het door een andere gebruiker verwijderd.
 at Microsoft.SharePoint.SPList.GetItemById(String strId, Int32 id, String strRootFolder, Boolean cacheRowsetAndId, String strViewFields, Boolean bDatesInUtc, Boolean bExpandQuery)
 at Microsoft.SharePoint.SPList.GetItemById(String strId, Int32 id, String strRootFolder, Boolean cacheRowsetAndId, String strViewFields, Boolean bDatesInUtc)
 at Nintex.Workflow.NWListWorkflowContext.get_WorkflowInstance()

The odd thing about this is when I login with a Site Collection Admin and try the same, everything works fine.
There must be a permission conflict somewhere, but we can't find where and what.

Please advice, this is a thorn in the eye and slows down our project.

Kind regards,

Hello,

I have just installed Nintex Forms and am seeing the following error in the Windows Application log:

 "Load control template file /_controltemplates/NintexFormsTemplates.ascx failed: The expression prefix 'NFResources' was not recognized.  Please correct the prefix or register the prefix in the <expressionBuilders> section of configuration."

Can anyone advise the reason for this error.

Cheers,

Start Workflow action is not starting a new workflow

I am calling a workflow using the "Start Workflow" action. The parent workflow works fine up until the new workflow is called. The Action history states that the action is "incomplete" and seems to never call the child workflow. I have created a few test scenarios with a workflow that calls a simple workflow and it seems to work, but from a more complexe workflow, it is not. I have created a simple workflow that only sends a notifcation to be used as the child and it still does not seem to work. This issue arose after I had to re-create/split a workflow due to its size so that I could export and import into another environment. I don't know where to look for any answers or hints as to why (log files maybe?)

Thanks for your help.

Our farm is composed of two server: one front end and one application server. Can we install on the farm the workgroup edition on the front end only or we need the standard edition ? In that case, do we need a license also for the application server ?

Thanks

Importing 2013 wf into 2010 SharePoint gives error; 2013 wf contains pointer to 15 hive

Hello!

I'm in an environment where we are trying to support both 2010 and 2013 workflows. We had a workflow developed on 2013 SharePoint and made export/import without any modifications to 2010 environment. Everything went fine until we wanted to start the wf manually. Somehow the workflow contains a pointer to 15 hive and this occurs as follows:

Open library on which wf is installed and deployed.

Select a row

Open item's workflow page.

Click on link that is supposed to open the start form for the wf.

--> ERROR: SharePoint cannot find  ..../_layouts/15/NintexWorkflow/StartWorkflow.aspx

Workaround:

Open IIS Manager on SharePoint server

Expand  the site where the wf is

Expand  _layouts folder

Right click on NINTEXWORKFLOW

Choose  Explore

Copy the path to clipboard, LEAVING OUT 'NINTEXWORKFLOW'  (i.e. the last folder name)

 Right click on _layouts

 Choose Add Virtual Directory

 Name it (Alias): 15 (i.e. numbers 1 and 5)

Paste the copied path from clipboard into Physical Path field.

Press OK.

Now the start form works. But! IIS contains a "duplicated" structure. I'm not sure how much that affects IIS functionality. Hopefully none!

Is this a bug or is it a "way of strategy to not be backward compatible"?

Greetings,

Sören

"Specify your own value" option not working for Choice field

I have a list with a Choice field where I use Check boxes and allow users to specify their own value.

When creating the Nintex Form, I noticed that the ability to add a new value is not supported.

Is this a Nintex Forms limitation?

Regexp helpdesk

Hi All,

Thinking about creating a help desk that hinged off of an email-enabled SharePoint list, which would extract a 'ticket ID' from the subject line in order to file incoming emails to the right case.

Pretty sure I could use use regexp in a Nintex workflow to e.g. recognize the presence of any 10 digit all-number character string (something like "[0-9]{13,13}" or "\d{13,13}"?) and I'd then either identify based on that or create a new ticket ID.

Wondering if anyone's already done something like this and might be able to share a list template or a Nintex workflow/action?

Custom Validation for People Picker Control

Hi

Please help! I need to check whether a choice field ("Yes/No") is selected and validate if the people picker have been populated. If "Yes" is selected, the people picker should be required. This is what i have so far, and it works but after populating the people picker control with a valid user, it remains required waiting for a value.

function IsOnBehalfOf(source, arguments) {
var selectOutcome = NWF$(".decision input:checked").val();
 if (selectOutcome == "Yes") {
if (arguments.Value == null) {
arguments.IsValid = false;
}
}
else
{
arguments.IsValid = true;
}
}

Please help!
