I'd like to use the "Run as Workflow Owner" option in an Action Set to avoid possible errors from insufficient permissions when the workflow is run by end users. I am a site collection admin, so that gives the workflow a lot of freedom to do what it needs to do. However, I have a concern...
What would happen in the future if my permissions were reduced or removed (e.g. I leave the company or change role)? Would the workflow suddenly start to fail? Would another site collection admin need to republish this workflow, and any others using the same option? If so, is there a way of finding out which workflows needed republishing?
I haven't seen these questions addressed in any documentation or forum post (sorry if I missed something), but this seems quite critical knowledge before committing to using this intriguing function, so I'd be grateful to anyone who can shed some light on it.
